We’re changing things up for the brewery of the week this week because this girl is going on vacation to one of her favorite places on Earth which is Boise, Idaho. Now why is Boise one of my favorite places on Earth? Easy, Boise is where I started Hoppy Travels & Cider Sightings and it is just a fantastic city. Now, why White Dog Brewing for the brewery of the week? Not only did I used to work at White Dog, but a lot of the staff there helped me get this blog started and have continued to support me through the ups and downs.

White Dog Brewing actually started in Bozeman, Montana in 2013 and then they opened their current location in Downtown Boise about two years ago. It was started by two brothers, Joe & Troy Moore (Troy probably being one of the smartest people I have ever met). They started out homebrewing in their garage and then soon after they were impressed by the quality of beer they were making so they opened White Dog so they could share their good beers with the masses. Now the art work you are going to see is based off of real life people and their dogs so with that lets get into the beer:

English IPA

Meet Cami and Jasie. Not only is Jasie Joe Moore’s girlfriend, but she is also the taproom and operations manager at White Dog and she is the definition of a badass. Now when creating this can Jasie and Joe wanted to portray badass Montana women doing the activities that they love and grew up with. Now adding the dog was a no brainer because everyone has a dog in Bozeman.

Now to talk about the beer, the English IPA is just your traditional IPA. Sitting at 6.5% ABV you get a crisp bitterness at the front with a dry finish.

Blackberry Sour

This is Lizzy and Huckleberry. This sour sitting at 4.2% abv is just a little bit tart with a crisp blackberry finish. Huckleberry, the dog, was named after one of Montana’s wildest fruits so it made sense to put her on the blackberry sour can. Lizzy is a fantastic mixoligist who loves mixing the Blackberry Sour with the Huckleberry Vodka from Bozeman Spirits with a splash of lemonade. Besides loving the beer both of them are brand ambassadors for White Dog.

Blood Orange Hefeweizen

Meet Skagit and Shawny. Shawny and Skagit have so vibrant personalities which is perfect for the Blood Orange Hef.  This 5% brew has a slightly citrusy taste with a slight fruity finish.

Blond Ale

This is Mandy and Ruger and they are always fetching the good life and fishing which makes them perfect for the Blond Ale label. Ruger has even dove for salmon in Alaska a couple times. This crisp beer sitting at 5.2% ABV is a super easy drinking beer and perfect for paddleboarding.

5 Hop IPA

This is Andrew and Charlie and Andrew is the first male model to appear on a White Dog can. Since Andrew is the first male model to appear on one of the cans he just can’t seem to get away from the paparazzi. However, Charlie has had it pretty easy and digs holes in the snow. Sitting at 6.6% ABV the 5-Hop is your typical west coast IPA with a very hoppy and bitter taste.

Scotch Ale

This is Rosalyn and Gus and Gus loves playing fetch and Rosalyn likes to fetch to Gus so they were perfect for the Scotch Ale label. This beer sitting at 5.2% ABV is perfect for a day in the mountains. It’s sweet with a malty finish and chocolate and caramel notes, with a roasted barley finish.

If you are ever in the Boise area swing by White Dog for a pint or two and you will see why I love these guys so much. Until next time Hoppy Travels!
