Tony Maggee started on a small homebrew kit in Northern California in 1993 and then Thanksgiving night rolled around and the wort went up into flames and burned the turkey to a crisp. So needless to say his wife asked him to move his brewing hobby somewhere else. He moved to an old shed in Forest Knolls, California which just so happens to be next to the town of Lagunitas. He started brewing a lot of different types of beers until he discovered the art of the IPA.

After awhile, Tony outgrew his space and moved his operation to Petaluma where Lagunitas is today. Now I know a lot of you in the midwest may have heard of Lagunitas being from Illinois so here is how that came about. One morning while driving to the brewery, Tony was thinking about expanding to the east coast and so with that came the second location in Chicago.

After a year Lagunitas started brewing for Chicago and everywhere east of the Rocky Mountains. They also opened up brewpubs in Seattle and Azusa, California.

Today, you can find Lagunitas in about 20 countries and that number continues to grow. “Wherever you go: beer speaks; people mumble (Lagunitas Brewing).”
What a cool story! Love Lagunitas beer!
I love their beer!
