So this brewery of the week is a little bit different in that this company a U.S. importer of many Belgian and Polish beers. I am also very excited for this because in high school I actually had the opportunity to go to Poland but of course I was too young to drink so I’m ecstatic to get to try some beers from Poland.

D&V International was founded in 1998 and it is the foremost importer of specialty beers from Poland and Belgium. All of their products are major specialty beers special to these two countries. They have everything from abbey’s, wheats, browns, blondes, triples, and lambics. Now that you have a little knowledge on the company lets get into the breweries and beer:

Brewery Fortuna-Miloslaw, Poland

So not only does this brewery make beer but they also make cider as well and a cider that caught my eye was the Cydr Miloslawski. This semi-sweet cider sitting at 4.5% ABV has a combination of carefully picked apples from Poland. It is very light and drinkable with a fruity and slightly sour flavor.

Komes Raspberry Porter

This 8.5% brew is a bottom fermenting beer with rasberry juice, Indian chili peppers, and Madagascar vanilla added in at the maturing stage. This gives it a unique sweetness with a spicy finish. Even though it is 8.5% ABV it is very drinkable so beware.

Viven Imperial IPA

Okay I will admit this is brewed in America but it is a Flemish style ale. What I find interesting is that it says it’s an IPA but it’s described as an Amber. It sits at 8% ABV and it has a fruity nose and a prominent hop flavor.

This is a traditional abbey from Brouwerij St. Bernard. This 7.5% brew is a rich and fruity triple with mellow-sweet flavor.

If you are in the Phoenix area these guys will be doing a tap takeover at Janey’s in Cave Creek this Thursday at 7 PM and until next time Hoppy Travels!
