I know what your thinking why is this brewery not in Brazil? Well fun fact it was in Brazil founded by the Carneiro Family except it was called Wals Brewing.

After 10 years they were bought out by Anheuser-Busch so after that the two brothers co-founded Novo Brazil Brewing Company as well as KHappy and ZX Ventures.

Now they primarily brew beer and alcoholic kombucha at their location in San Diego and non-alcoholic kombucha at KHappy in South America.

So now that you know a little bit of history lets get into the beers:

Chula Pils

This dry-hopped lager named after the city of Chula Vista, where Novo Brazil is located, sits at a nice 5% abv and has a crisp but a full body unlike your normal Pilsner. It is dry-hopped with Cascade and Saaz hops to stay true to that SoCal style. Perfect for the summer!

Morena

This Amber Ale sitting at 5.2% ABV has the perfect combination light and dark malts. This beer captures the joyful lifestyle of the Brazilian people.

2Can

This hoppy yet crispy IPA sitting at 6.6% ABV is a tribute to the 2Can in Chula Vista. This is a West Coast IPA brewed with a variety of hops such as Amarillo, Cascade, Sicoe, Centennial, and Citra. This blend of hops gives this beer a citrusy but also piney aroma.

The Mango Beer

This IPA sitting 7% ABV is your traditional San Diego IPA with some tropical mango thrown in there.  This beer will make you question whether your drinking a beer from San Diego or Brazil.

Pool Party Haze

As you can tell by the name this is a nice Hazy IPA sitting at 5.5% ABV and is hopped with Citra and Mosaic hops.Very refreshing and juicy perfect for summer.

Ipanema

If you are looking for something stronger don’t you worry Novo Brazil has Ipanema. This Double IPA sits at 8.3% ABV and goes through a double dry-hopping process with Amarillo, Galaxy, Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic which gives off a smooth bitterness but with a tropical aroma.

Rio

This Pale Ale sitting at 5.5% ABV is named after Brazil’s most well know postcard. This beer is very well balanced with bready and caramel aromas and flavors with a slight grapefruit character from the Cascade hops.

Baby Mango

Now my personal favorite is the Baby Mango IPA. Its super crushable and sessionable sitting at 4.9% ABV but with so much flavor. This is a combination of The Mango and San Diego’s night breeze.

Barrel Aged Corvo Negro

If you are looking for something dark and strong The Corvo Negro is a solid choice. Sitting at 13% ABV this is an intense dark ale that has a nice warm finish to it.

If you are in the Phoenix area come by Janey’s on Thursday to try some of these delicious or if you are in the San Diego area go check out Novo Brazil Brewing Company you will not regret it. Until next time Hoppy Travels!
