“Bringing people together over great beer” as said by Operations Manager Ryan Peek. I love this so much because that was the reason I started Hoppy Travels & Cider Sightings. Mike Hess was only the 33rd brewery in the region in fact back in 2010 there were only 1,700 breweries in the entire country. Last year they counted 7, 450 breweries in America alone according to statista.com. It’s a great time to be a craft beer nerd so jump on board (of course if your of age).
They started with an 800 square foot location with a roll up door in the San Diego area. Their humble beginning as the very first nano-brewery in San Diego allowed Mike Hess to grow their customer base at a good pace. Now in their 10th year of being in business they now have five locations all over California.
They began work on their flagship brewery in North Park in 2012 and then finally opened their doors in 2013. This spectacular location features a 30 bbl system as well as a skybridge over the brewhouse.
They then opened their Ocean Beach tasting room just a few blocks from OB Dog Beach.
Just last year they opened up their 4th location in the Hess Family hometown of Walnut Creek. This location features a beautiful 2,200 square foot deck and patio area.
This year they just opened their 5th location in Imperial Beach which includes 6,500 square foot outdoor space and kitchen. This place is perfect for any big gathering such as a wedding or party with friends.
Come join us tomorrow night at Janey’s in Cave Creek to try some of the brews from this phenomenal brewery! Until next time Hoppy Travels!
